FAQ / VAT, Taxes & Duties
Do I have to pay VAT or import duties?
If you are in the UK, you will be required to pay VAT on goods and postage as detailed on the HMRC website.
EU member states are subject to VAT at your country's tax rate, subject to applicable limits for purchases and shipments. VAT is collected and reported via the IOSS system for eligible orders up to €150. For orders over this value, any duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility.
Purchases shipped to countries outside the UK may be exempt from UK VAT but may be subject to import duties, taxes or customs charges in the destination country.
I'm in the EU with a VAT number. Will I still pay VAT on my order?
No. Once your B2B account is verified with a valid VAT number, VAT is removed from all your orders. Simply Bearings is IOSS-registered, which means we handle EU VAT reporting on your behalf. You receive B2B pricing without the complexity of reverse-charge invoices—just clean, tax-exempt pricing.
My verification failed. What went wrong?
The most common reason is a mismatch between your company name or registration number and what's listed in public registries. Check that spelling, punctuation, and format exactly match your official registration. If it still doesn't work, email us with a copy of your company registration
What about orders over €150 to the EU? Do I still get VAT exemption?
Orders under €150 qualify for IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) VAT handling—we collect and report VAT for you, and you receive VAT-exempt pricing. For orders over €150, any duties and taxes become the buyer's responsibility. We'll clarify amounts before you complete checkout. For large orders, contact our B2B team to discuss custom arrangements.
How do I know which tax rate applies to my order?
Once your B2B account is verified, your tax rate displays on product pages and at checkout based on your registered location. EU customers see "VAT-exempt." US customers see their state rate. Canadian customers see HST/GST for their province. If your rate looks wrong, contact us immediately so we can correct it.
